Following a child’s cancer diagnosis, families are immediately sent to the hospital to begin treatment procedures, most of which require hospitalization. Often, parents don’t even have time to grab a toothbrush, let alone their child’s favorite thing to comfort them. It can be an incredibly frightening and overwhelming experience.
Through Circle of Care’s signature program, Bags of Love, they are able to meet the immediate needs of every newly diagnosed child as soon as they and their family reach the hospital. A canvas tote filled with day-to-day necessities, comfort items (fleece blankets) and vital resources helps to ease the transition and let each child and family know that they are not alone; they have our support from day one through to the conclusion of their child’s treatment.
In preparation for this fulfilling meeting, please consider donating $25 toward the cost of the fleece blankets. Please make your donation by March 1st. This will provide us enough time to purchase the material for the blankets.
Come join your YWL friends for some socializing as we tie fleece blankets for the Circle of Care organization during our March general meeting.
