When did parenting get so hard? How do we cope and find balance? This article-based discussion group will meet once a month for three months to focus on topics relevant to modern day parenting, such as being a "good enough" parent, modeling coping skills for our kids, and self-care/sanity for busy moms. Suggested reading before each group will include one or two articles that highlight the issues to be discussed and provide a jumping off point for our conversations. Our goal is to create a safe and non-judgmental space where we can learn from one another. The group will be facilitated by Dr. Jennie Klein, PhD, a New Canaan-based clinical psychologist and mother of two toddlers, who works with families, parents, and individual adults (www.drjennieklein.com).
Articles discussed at the February 1st meeting will be:
The Gift of the Good Enough Mother
Helicopter and lawnmower parents beware: Experts say the key to raising kids is to be "just good enough"
This group will meet on February 1, March 1 and April 3. Registering will automatically sign you up for all three meetings.
