We asked and you answered! Our January meeting line up was the #1 vote getter on our membership program meeting survey "Around Town." We have invited three town leaders to come speak to us about the issues that affect you, New Canaan, and the YWL:
Educator Hazel Hobbs
was reelected as the Chairman of the New Canaan Board of Education in September. The founder and former of headmistress of Pear Tree Point School in Darien, as well as the former principal of two Greenwich public schools, Hazel's background in education is deep and wide-ranging.
is the Executive Director of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce. Connecting New Canaan with our business community, the Chamber leads such events as the Halloween Parade and Holiday Stroll, as well as helping to attract new businesses to town. Tucker has lived in New Canaan for 23 years and has served our community in just about every capacity from President of the South School PTC to a member of the Town Council.
Our final panelist is a voice you will recognize - Mike Handler is the steady voice on the other end of all your Office of Emergency Management voicemails. When not reassuring New Canaan-ites, our Director of Emergency Management is also the Director of Administration for Stamford (their top financial position).
So what's on your mind? Are you aching to find out what new businesses are considering moving to New Canaan? Or what 12 items should every family keep in their cupboard during storm season? Have any questions about redistricting or education standards in our schools? We would love to hear what you want to hear about... please forward your questions to Elizabeth DeMuth (email@example.com
) by Tuesday, January 14th so that they can be incorporated into our meeting.
